Presented by the College of Fine Arts and the School of Music
Produced and performed by University Lyric Opera Ensemble and Utah Philharmonia
The Lyric Opera Ensemble celebrates the Verdi Bicentennial with this production of his final opera. Pranks, disguises and good laughs abound in this masterpiece. Based on the writings of Shakespeare, the merry wives of Windsor unite in mischief-making when an ignoble nobleman plots to plunder their savings. Equal parts orchestral virtuosity and riotously paced comedy, the opera is a perfect fusion of renaissance realism and light-hearted fantasy.
